What does today's Hijri date mean?
The Hijri, or Islamic, calendar is a lunar calendar with twelve months. Its years are counted from the Hijra, the migration of Prophet Muhammad from Makkah to Madinah. A Hijri date identifies the lunar day and month alongside the year in AH.
Why might the date differ by one day?
This page shows a calculated calendar result based on the same conversion logic as our main tool. Communities may begin a lunar month after a local moon sighting, or follow a different calculation method, country, or religious authority. For that reason, an observed local date can differ by approximately one day.
